Art Neouvou Pendant Light - Glasgow Style-inspired

This handcrafted Art Nouveau stained glass pendant light is inspired by the Glasgow Style and my ongoing fascination with the work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Rather than reproducing a historical design, I reimagined the Mackintosh Rose with my own interpretation of the form, incorporating green petals into a new architectural composition.

The design combines bubbled iridescent ripple glass, heritage green bubble glass, and white Arctic glass with an iridescent coating on the reverse. At the centre of the main flower is a two-inch faceted crystal roundel that catches and refracts the light. The natural silver solder was intentionally left unpatinated, while the riveted tin lid was finished with a clear gloss, bringing together the contrasting character of steel and glass.

​​Measuring 14.5" from the hanging loop to the bottom and 7" square at the top, the pendant is constructed from 143 individual pieces of glass. Custom  designed and handmade, this piece reflects my approach to working with historical designs - taking elements that inspire me, reinterpreting them, and seeing where my own imagination can take them.​​​
